Set up uv in Python

UV

UV is an alternative to tool to venv to generate Python virtual environment. The following is a guid to creating uv environments in Positron

Create a virtual environment

To create a UV Python virtual environment:

Install uv (windows powershell)

powershell -ExecutionPolicy ByPass -c "irm https://astral.sh/uv/install.ps1 | iex"

Restart Positron and verify installation in powershell

uv --version

Navigate to the root directory and create a .venv directory

uv init --python 3.12

Install modules

uv add requests pandas jupyter
